Using PhotoPrompting means agreeing to this page. It is short on purpose: write your own lines, be decent, and the wall credits you wherever your line travels.

who you are dealing with

PhotoPrompting is run by Matthew Clary, an individual in the United States. You need to be at least 13 to use it, and old enough to agree to terms where you live.

your lines

What you write stays yours. By filing a line you give PhotoPrompting a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to show it, credited to your display name, on the wall and wherever the wall travels: pages, picture cards, prints, embeds, the public API, the Discord bot, the daily post on social networks and the weekly letter.

You also agree that filed lines are read together to distil the house voice, and that a few public lines at a time are sent to our AI provider as examples of that voice. The privacy page says exactly what is sent.

You can delete a line whenever you like. It leaves the wall and the API. Copies that already travelled may remain where they went.

what belongs on the wall

• Your own words. Do not file text a person did not write, other people’s writing as your own, or song lyrics at length. A lyric quoted in passing is fine.
• No harassment, threats, hate, sexual content involving minors, doxxing, or anything illegal. No spam or advertising.
• No impersonating another person, an artist, or the house.

We can hide or remove lines and close accounts that break these rules, and we would rather not have to.

the api, the bot and the connectors

• The free doors are free within their posted limits. Do not work around rate limits, share a key publicly, or use the doors to file lines a person did not write.
• Credit the wall and the writer when you show a line. The API returns the credit with every line so this is easy.
• The generated voice is licensed separately. The voice licence governs what you may do with its output.
• Doors can change. We try not to break working calls, and the docs are the contract.

money

Credits, API keys and desk reads are digital goods, paid through Stripe and delivered at once. Keys do not expire; credits do not expire. If something you bought does not work, or you bought it by mistake and have not used it, write within 14 days and you will be refunded. Tips are gifts; an accidental tip is returned if you write promptly. Prices can change for future purchases, never for one already made.

The wall also rents a little space. The classifieds are advertisements and are stamped as such. Some are referral links: if you sign up through one, PhotoPrompting may be paid, and the card says so. Offers meant for adults are never shown on the wall; they are listed only on the classifieds page, in a section that stays closed until you say you are old enough. An advertisement is not a recommendation, and what you do on another company’s site is between you and them.

music, marks and other people’s rights

PhotoPrompting is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by Spotify or any artist or label. Cover art is supplied by Spotify and shown on screen beside a link back, the 30 seconds play in Spotify’s own player, and neither is ever copied into the pictures, prints or AI requests this site makes. Song titles and artist names are used to say which record a line is about.

If something here infringes your rights, write to the address below with the page address and what is yours, and it will be looked at promptly and removed where it should be.

no promises the law does not require

The site and the API are provided as they are. Lines on the wall are opinions and jokes, not statements of fact, and the house voice is generated by an AI and can be wrong. To the extent the law allows, PhotoPrompting is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and its total liability to you is limited to what you paid in the twelve months before the claim.

ending and changes

You can stop using the site and ask for your account to be deleted at any time. We may suspend accounts or keys that break these terms. When these terms change in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and the wall says so; using the site after that means you accept the change. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state where the operator lives.
